Destination South Is Ready To Plan Your Atlanta Championship Game Event!

I can’t say that I have ever been to a championship game, but Florida State did win the 2013 National Championship for College Football and I remember that day so well!  I was with all my friends back home grilling out and watching on an outdoor screen. We played ole Auburn Tigers and it was a nail biter! Auburn was up 31-27 with less than a minute left. 13 secs left Jamis Winston threw the winning touchdown, but it wasn’t over yet! Auburn is known to have the luckiest plays with less than 5 secs left in a game, so we knew we hadn’t fully won! After a few split-second heart attacks, the time ran out for the Tigers and we WON!”
Football memory shared by Jamie Lea Shiver, Destination South’s Operations Manager

About The College Football Playoff National Championship
The College Football Playoff preserves the excitement and significance of college football’s unique regular season where every game counts. The kickoff of the new year belongs to college football, with two semifinal games rotating annually among the Cotton Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Orange Bowl, Peach Bowl, Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl.

The two teams winning the playoff semifinals compete for the College Football Playoff National Championship. That game is in a different city each year, always on a Monday night. Every FBS team has equal access to the College Football Playoff based on its performance. No team automatically qualifies.

University presidents and chancellors from all 10 FBS conferences and Notre Dame serve on the College Football Playoff Board of Managers and govern the administrative operations, with commissioners (the management committee) managing the event. A small staff in the playoff office in Irving, Texas, carries out the day-to-day responsibilities. A talented group of high-integrity individuals with experience as coaches, student-athletes, college administrators and journalists, along with sitting athletics directors, comprise the selection committee. Members of the 2017-2018 committee are: Kirby Hocutt (chair), Barry Alvarez, Jeff Bower, Herb Deromedi, Tom Jernstedt, Bobby Johnson, Jeff Long, Rob Mullens, Dan Radakovich, Condoleezza Rice, Steve Wieberg and Tyrone Willingham.
