Destination South Meetings & Events is pleased to announce that Andy Williams, TMP has joined our team as Director of Sales. Prior to joining DSME, Andy was Director of Sales at the Convention & Visitors Bureau of Dunwoody in Georgia. Andy joins the Destination South team with almost a decade of experience in the event, meetings and tourism industry. Most recently he held the position of Director of Sales at the Convention & Visitors Bureau of Dunwoody in Georgia, where he was tasked with leading the sales efforts of the convention and visitors bureau.

As Director of Sales for Destination South and Meetings, Andy will be responsible for developing and executing market development, sales, and new business. From Destination South’s Atlanta office, he will supervise the sales team to identify client and partner opportunities and ensure delivery of quality solutions that meet Destination South’s short and long-term goals. Andy will maintain strong working relationships with current clients and prospects, and will be pivotal in team building and strategic sales management.

Throughout his career Andy has led an impressive array of southeast hospitality and tourism organizations. In his position with the Convention & Visitors Bureau of Dunwoody Andy worked daily to establish business in Dunwoody through a concentration on group sales. His efforts resulted in the generation of over $12.7 million in estimated economic impact within the city. Prior to joining the Convention & Visitors Bureau of Dunwoody, Andy served as Project Coordinator at the Madison Convention & Visitors Bureau in Georgia, where he focused on marketing and special events.

Andy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in tourism and commercial recreation from Young Harris College and Georgia Southern University. He currently serves as Vice President of Finance for the Georgia Chapter of Meeting Professionals International’s board of directors. He is a certified Travel Marketing Professional through the Southeast Tourism Society and received the “40 under 40” designation in 2012 from Collinson Media & Events. Additionally he was named “Rising Star of the Year” in 2013 and “Supplier Member of the Year” in 2014 by MPI Georgia.
