We love the compassion and care that Regan brings to every event detail that she touches. Get to know this up-and-coming event professional by reading her ‘Quick Ten’ interview below!

DSOUTH:  Hi Regan – thanks for taking some time to chat, and sharing in our ten top questions interview. First up, where are you from?
REGAN:  I was born in Savannah, but I call Vidalia, Georgia my hometown.

DSOUTH:  We were happy to have you join the team this summer. Share with our readers what your title is and your job entails.
REGAN:  I’m a Meeting + Event Manager, and plan meetings and corporate events.

DSOUTH:  Before joining the Destination South team did you have a different job or career path?
REGAN:  Out of college, I was selected as one of seven Leadership Consultants for my sorority, Alpha Delta Pi. I traveled across the country for a year working with and training chapter members, local advisors, and district leaders.

DSOUTH:  How and when did you know that working in the event and meetings industry was ultimately what you wanted to do?
REGAN:  Through my membership and work with Alpha Delta Pi, I attended many district leadership conferences and annual conventions. During my two-year tenure working with the organization, I was fortunate be take part in the planning and execution of these meetings. This is where I found my love for meeting and event planning!

DSOUTH:  So far, what do you like best about your position with Destination South?
REGAN:  I love developing relationships with my clients. We spend so much time planning an event or meeting together that lasts only a day or less than a week. While events come and go, the friendships that build during the planning process are priceless! I look forward to continue growing within my role as a meeting planner.

DSOUTH:  I know you work on a variety of client events and meetings, but do you have any favorites so far?
REGAN:  My favorite event to date with the DSME team was not even an event. The team came together to write a large-scale proposal. We pulled together our resources, worked hard, and we developed one of the most creative and organized proposals I have ever been a part of. This was a laborious and beautiful process and I could not be more proud to be a part of it.

DSOUTH:  For others just getting into the events and meetings industry, what advice would you share?
REGAN:  Volunteer your time, get your foot in the door, and explore all opportunities available to you. Event planning is not as glamorous as it may seem, but for those who truly love it, there is nothing better!

DSOUTH:  Now living in Atlanta, what are your thoughts on our hometown?
REGAN:  I met my husband (Shaun), began my career, and made a home in Atlanta. Lucky for us, this city in all of its hustle and bustle has given Shaun and me so many adventures and opportunities together. This is what I love best about living in Atlanta. Working in Atlanta as an event planner has opened up so many additional opportunities. I get to see all of the fascinating spaces, venues, and restaurants our city has to offer. Is this real life? Most days I cannot believe this is my job and I get to be a small part of this city’s growth!

DSOUTH:  When not working, we hear that you love spending quality time with some furry friends…
REGAN:  Yes. We have a gentle giant named Cooper. Cooper is 9 years young and he thinks he is a lap dog most of the time even though he weighs 120 pounds. He loves carrying a toy squirrel around the house and yard, chasing squirrels, and dreaming about chasing squirrels. Margot is our sweet baby girl and we adopted her from Angels Among Us pet rescue in 2014. She is a Golden Retriever mix who was born to cuddle. Margot loves chewing on bones, wearing her yellow rain jacket (she is not a fan of rain and she truly loves this jacket!), taking short walks, and snuggling.

DSOUTH:  When you take your next break is there a destination that you like to visit over any others?
REGAN:  I love visiting Amelia Island, Florida. Way to dream big, right? I have been visiting Amelia for over 30 years and I find so much joy being on the beach and near Amelia’s cozy community. Now that there is a Target, it has everything a girl could ask for and more!

DSOUTH:  We love Amelia Island too…take us with you on your next visit! Thanks again Regan for chatting today. We appreciate all that you’re bringing to Destination South!
